Clifford Payne, Expert CVSA Examiner and Background Investigator with the Atlanta Police Dept. (GA) gave a three-hour lecture on the use of the CVSA for Background Investigations.  Cliff's lecture was designed to help agencies make the right hiring decisions, and contained information on how to conduct a thorough background investigation, including documenting and investigating past behaviours, developing a rapport with applicants, interviewing applicants, the background investigation process and a practical list of resources developed to guide you in your background investigation.

Don Wiebe, Analytical Interviewing System (AIS) instructor  for the NITV lectured on the Team Interviewing concept. This innovative and highly successful interviewing technique is an integral part of the AIS training system as taught by the NITV. This concept embraces a systematic, organized, and planned approach to interrogating suspects as well as interviewing difficult witnesses. The segment taught also included a detailed plan for creating an organized attack on your subject. This approach coupled with the techniques taught during the AIS Course is the most innovative and effective approach taught currently. By simply using the Team Approach your chances of conducting a successful interview or interrogation drastically increases. 

Lt. David Wyllie with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, lectured on the abduction, rape and murder of Jessica Lunsford. Attendees viewed photos of the crime scene and CVSA charts pertaining to the investigation. Attendees were offered a close examination of the CVSA charts, which showed Jessica’s father was not involved in the abduction, which was contrary to polygraph tests administered by federal and state agencies.
